Der wichtigste Schritt ist es einen Bausatz zu finden, der in möglichst vielen Kriterien dem Bild des Babys entspricht. Obwohl es Unmengen an Bausätzen auf dem Markt gibt, ist das gar nicht so einfach. Meist kommen 2- 3 Bausätze in die engere Wahl. Man wird in den meisten Fällen aber keinen Bausatz finden, der 100-prozentig mit dem Foto übereinstimmt.

Im nächsten Schritt versucht man dann, den Bausatz so zu gestalten, dass er dem Baby auf dem Bild möglichst nahe kommt: Hautton, Augenfarbe und Frisur sowie besondere Merkmal wie Storchenbiss, Pickelchen, usw.

Bei der Fertigstellung des Babys sollte natürlich auch das Geburtsgewicht und wenn möglich die Größe des Babys berücksichtigt werden. Auch die Kleidung kann man, wenn man möchte, auf das Foto abstimmen.
